A native of the Mahoning Valley, Frank L. Cassese graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School before attending the Ohio State University (B.A., 2008). He earned his law degree from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 2014.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Frank completed an internship with the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, clerked for Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge John Durkin and worked at DeBartolo Sports and Entertainment, Inc. He also assisted in the management of Cassese’s M.V.R. Restaurant, a landmark Youngstown restaurant that is owned by his family.
After law school, Frank took a position with the local law firm of Betras, Kopp & Harshman. Throughout his time at BKH, Frank gained tremendous experience in both criminal and civil litigation. In 2016, Frank joined Hartwig Law to expand his focus in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, and domestic relations.
Attorney Cassese is licensed to practice law in Ohio as well as the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio. He is a member of the Mahoning County Bar Association, the Nathaniel R. Jones American Inn of Court, the Ohio Association Criminal Defense Lawyers (OACDL), and the Ohio State Bar Association.
Frank resides in Youngstown with his wife Jessica.
April graduated from Pymatuning Valley High School in 2009, and went on to attend Youngstown State University. April graduated from Youngstown State University in 2011, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. At graduation, she was given the honor of being commencement speaker. While an undergraduate at Y.S.U., she served as a volunteer for the Youngstown Municipal Veterans Court.
April began working for Attorney Hartwig as a law clerk when he started his firm in 2012. She worked while earning her Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Akron School of Law. April completed her law degree in December of 2015 along with her Certificate in Litigation. April also has certifications in both general and divorce mediation, and was the recipient of the CALI for Excellence Award in both Family Law Practicum and Insurance Law. April is also a member of the Mahoning County Bar Association.
April enjoys working one on one with clients, and has a passion for cases involving criminal law. She also enjoys helping clients as they go through difficult times following an accident, tragic loss, or during the process of a divorce or child custody issue.
When she is not working, April enjoys spending time with her husband and family. They are expecting their first child in September.
Simonne began her paralegal career with Attorney Hartwig when she joined Hartwig Law at its start in 2012. She is a graduate from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and obtained her Paralegal Certificate from CCAC in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Simonne has over 10 years of customer service experience and enjoys working directly with clients, managing their files, and assisting with their questions and needs. In her spare time, she enjoys playing the piano and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Sydney is currently a full-time student at Youngstown State University. She has been on the Dean’s list every semester that she has been at YSU. She is a Criminal Justice major with two minors in Women’s & Gender Studies and Africana Studies. Sydney is Vice President of the National Organization for Women: YSU Chapter, and she is a member of Sisters with a Vision at Youngstown State. She attended Campbell Memorial High School, where she graduated as Valedictorian in 2014. She plans to attend law school in 2018 with an interest in Human Rights. Sydney joined Hartwig Law in April of 2016, at the end of her Sophomore year at Youngstown State. In her spare time, Sydney enjoys spending time with friends and her dog, Sadie.
